The Role: Chief Operating Officer

CoinFund is looking for a strategic builder and an entrepreneurial executor to lead the further buildout of our differentiated, cryptonative institutional foundation as our Chief Operating Officer (COO). In addition to managing middle office and project management functions, you will participate as a member of the Executive Team, contributing to the strategy, execution, and performance of our firm. In this critical role, you’ll make an immediate impact by owning the logistical needs of an agile and ever changing workforce, while also implementing key processes that will help bring CoinFund’s strategy to fruition. This role reports directly to the President and is based in New York City, but remote options are available.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a key role in driving the firm’s strategy around future products and capabilities while providing insight and advice to portfolio companies as required
• Chair or support various committees including, Valuation Committee, Risk and Operations Committee, and Executive Committee
• Execute the launch of new funds and other investment vehicles
• Manage onboarding and ongoing relationships with vendors and counterparties, including exchanges, brokers, custodians, technology providers, external consultants, and other service providers; this will include sourcing and research (buy vs. build analysis), due diligence, negotiation, onboarding, and ongoing management and communications
• Own the firm wide project management function, including multi-year cross functional projects
• Manage the technology and cybersecurity function, which includes Google Workspace, Cyber Security (including serving as CISO), Facilities I.T., and integration and management of external vendors
• Work closely with the CFO on various financial and operational processes
• Coordinate with the Investor Relations group and fund administrator on investor onboarding, materials, and communications
• Manage the Operational Due Diligence function including ownership of the DDQ and other ODD related materials
• Support talent acquisition projects, employee onboarding, and ongoing HR needs
• Supervise existing facilities management in New York City and manage the building out of facilities in new geographies in the future

Requirements:

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in a Hedge Fund, Asset Manager, Private Equity, or Venture Fund in a broad based operations role spanning front and and back office
• Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills
• Ability to build trust and drive effective partnership with internal teams (e.g., Finance, Compliance, Investor Relations, People + Talent)
• Demonstrated leadership and excellent people management skills
• High level of attention to detail and passion for solving complex problems
• Highly motivated to roll up sleeves and work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment within a distributed work, remote-first organization
• Blockchain-obsessed, with personal experience and passion for web3 and the promise it presents
• Knowledge across both centralized and decentralized finance,as well as understanding of different custody and secured storage protocols
• Proven experience in evergreen, drawdown, and special purpose vehicle fund formation
