The Department: Finance
The Role: Finance & Operations Associate
CoinFund is looking for an exceptional individual to join the finance team and take on critical responsibilities as our Finance and Operations Associate. This role will play a critical role in overseeing portfolio operations and fund accounting. Cryptocurrencies can be complex and the industry is rapidly evolving. You’ll need to have a strategic mindset when it comes to the ways crypto is changing financial reporting (i.e. staking, airdrops, DAOs, blockers, etc.). You’ll work closely with our Director of Finance, CFO, the investment/trading team, legal team, and third-party vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Fund financial operations:
- review portfolio trading operations and partner with our fund administrator to reconcile these to the funds’ books and records
- ensure the day-to-day accuracy and reconciliation of trade entries, including investigating and resolving any discrepancies
- On-chain activity:
- track and reconcile on-chain crypto activity, including reviewing digital assets located on various chains, reviewing balances across exchanges and OTC counterparties, and maintaining a ledger of all wallet addresses
- review vesting schedules for locked tokens and track staking rewards and yield
- Valuation:
- review purchase agreements, SAFTs, TPAs, and SAFEs for valuation and reporting
- provide input on portfolio valuation for presentation to the valuation committee
- General fund accounting oversight and audit support:
- drive the monthly financial reporting and quarter-end closing for various investment entities
- ensure financial reporting is in compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- assist with the financial statement audits and work closely with the fund auditors
- proactively identify control gaps and build processes and controls around them including input on policies
- partner cross-functionally on major new projects/fund vehicles/initiatives for smooth launches including review and recommendation of new vendors
- manage data to produce ad hoc reports for investors and other stakeholders
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- You are a proactive self-starter and a proven executor. You know how to prioritize, communicate expectations, set deadlines, and move fast. You’re reliable and take pride in the ownership you have over your work.
- 1-3 years of experience in alternative investment management industry (Hedge Fund, Private Equity, venture capital, public accounting, investment banking or relevant industry)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA preferred but not required.
- You’re incredibly organized and detail oriented. Due to the ever-changing landscape of the crypto industry, you’re familiar with the need to double/triple check token reconciliations and the various types of wallets/exchanges/custodial accounts that you’ll be gathering information from.
- You love to live in excel and analyze financial data.
- You’re flexible and feel comfortable in small, “start-up” environments that move quickly and at times deal with high pressure deadlines
- Familiarity with cryptocurrencies is required and a general passion for the industry
- Authorized for employment in the United States
- Understanding of GAAP
- Diligent, hard-working, reliable, with a high level of integrity
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Enjoys working in a small, autonomous, entrepreneurial team
